London Bridge | Canon EOS R : RF 35mm f1.8 IS : f/13.0 : 1/160s : ISO 400
London Bridge is a haphazard jungle of intersecting roads, tunnels, station entrances, a bus terminal and hidden walkways. I love it. It is a street photographers dream. On bright sunny days, shafts of light cut across its many junctions, creating constantly changing shadows and silhouettes.
Although you can find yourself risking life and limb in the middle of traffic to capture your images, I would argue the risk that is worth it!
On this particular occasion, it was late in the day, the sun was low and silhouetted anyone walking towards London Bridge from Borough High Street. This couple had just met up and were walking together, presumably to a destination nearby.
Trying to catch them talking and with their silhouettes separated by sunlight, I allowed the right-hand side of the photograph to fall into deep shadow and processed the Raw file seen here so as to maximise the contrast while still allowing the brickwork and pavement detail to remain visible.
The workflow he included the use of Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw and Silver Effex Pro and tried to maximise the dynamic range in the final image, ensuring that there were sufficient shadow and highlight detail within the final black and white image.
